Shopify deploys River AI agent in Slack channels
Shopify deploys River, an AI agent integrated into Slack channels. River enables employees to read code, run tests, write code and open pull requests directly from conversations. In the last 30 days, 5,938 employees used it, authoring one in eight merged pull requests. River handles end-to-end tasks from code review to pull-request creation where technical discussions occur.

Reminds me of how Midjourney's Discord-only launch helped people figure out the weird & complex craft of image prompting by watching each other

Building an AI-native company? Go read it now.
I couldn't resist visualizing it with my artifact generator.
Biggest takeaway for me: "The risk isn't that AI does the work. It's that nobody learns from it."

River has been an insane unlock. We learn from River. River makes it easier than ever for the anyone in the company to make “if you see something, fix it” a reality. Being slack-native brings the agent to meet the work where conversation is happening.
