Waymo vehicle evades Los Angeles street racing crash

Waymo autonomous vehicle detected multiple vehicles street racing above 125 mph on the I-10 freeway in Los Angeles. Onboard systems identified the anomaly early, tracked the crash, and executed defensive maneuvers to pass the scene while staying in autonomous mode. Lidar point clouds and forward camera footage recorded the vehicle slowing from 57 mph to 9 mph amid nighttime traffic and a driver fleeing on foot.
