Jerry Tworek observes clarity regression in AI writing

0

Jerry Tworek, previously VP of RL at OpenAI, observed that longer-form AI-generated content leaves readers feeling diminished, with clarity appearing to have regressed from the o1 and o3 models even as overall capabilities advanced. He contributed to those reasoning models along with GPT-4 and ChatGPT. Thread replies addressed specific limitations such as unresolved coherence issues and proposed longer context windows plus stronger factual grounding as necessary steps forward.

If the AI models are so smart, why do I feel like I’m losing a few neurons every time I read a longer form content written by AI? We’ve come a long way but we still have long way to go. In terms of clarity of writing we may have regressed from o1/o3 days.
